BILOXI RADIO EXECUTIVE ACCEPTS CORPORATE POST WITH TRIAD
BROADCASTING COMPANY
Steve Fehder to Help Build Nationwide Radio Group as
Triad’s Sr. VP, Director of Operations for Eastern U.S.
BILOXI, MS; and MONTEREY,
CA, June 27, 2000 – Triad Broadcasting Company, L.L.C.,
of Monterey, California, today announced that Steve
Fehder, Vice President and General Manager of Triad’s
Mississippi Gulf Coast radio stations WXRG-FM, WCPR-FM,
WXYK-FM, WXBD-AM, WVMI-AM, and WUJM-FM, has been
promoted to a corporate position with the company as
Senior Vice President and Director of Operations for the
Eastern U.S. Fehder will assume his new position on July
15, leaving Biloxi for new offices in Louisville,
Kentucky. Buddy Burch, Director of Sales for the Gulf
Coast station group for over three years, will replace
Fehder as Vice President and Market Manager of the six
stations, effective July 15.
David J. Benjamin, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Triad Broadcasting Company, said: “We are pleased to
have Steve Fehder join our senior management team as a
partner in building Triad Broadcasting. He has been a
tremendous asset to our team thus far, and has
contributed a great deal to the growth and development
of our radio stations on the Gulf Coast.” Triad
Broadcasting Company owns, operates or has announced
that it will acquire a total of 42 radio stations in
small and mid-sized markets across the U.S. 24 of
Triad’s stations are located in eastern U.S. markets,
including Biloxi/Gulfport/Pascagoula, MS; Tallahassee,
FL; Hilton Head, SC/Savannah, GA; and Bluefield, WV.
Fehder will direct strategic acquisitions and operations
within these and additional markets, and will lead the
company’s Internet initiatives. Benjamin founded Triad
Broadcasting Company in July 1999, with the acquisition
of Gulf Coast Radio Partners, the Biloxi radio group
co-founded and operated by Fehder. This April, Triad
announced that it had secured $80 million in commitments
of equity capital from Norwest Equity Partners, of
Minneapolis; Shamrock Capital Investors, Inc., of
Burbank, CA; Bank of America Capital Investors, of
Chicago; George W. Couch, a major Anheuser-Busch
distributor in California; and members of Triad’s
management team. The funds will be used to acquire radio
stations in small to mid-sized U.S. markets.
Fehder said: “We’re extremely proud that Triad
Broadcasting started with the acquisition of Gulf Coast
Radio Partners. Now the plan is to build the premier
small to mid-market radio company in the country, and we
are well on our way, with 42 stations owned or announced
to date. It all started here on the Gulf Coast, and that
is quite a distinction for Triad and for these
outstanding Gulf Coast stations.” Fehder, a 16-year
veteran of the radio broadcasting industry, is credited
with changing the face of the Biloxi radio market by
taking Triad’s Biloxi group from the #3 ratings position
to its current status as the highest rated group of
radio stations on the Gulf Coast. In the process, Fehder
raised the bar of excellence for all radio stations in
the market. WCPR received Mississippi radio’s top honor
in 1999, when it was voted Mississippi’s Best Radio
Station by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.
WXRG was named Coast Magazine’s Favorite Station in
1999, and the station unseated perennial power K-99 for
the #1 position with Adults 25-54 in the Fall ’99
ratings for the first time in thirteen years. Under
Fehder’s leadership, the group developed TRAFFIC ONE,
the Gulf Coast’s largest traffic-reporting network.
In addition, Triad’s Biloxi stations have become widely
known for cutting edge promotions and marketing
campaigns such as the Classic Rock Hard Hat Girls, CPR’s
World’s Fattest D.J., Mississippi Real Life, and
controversial billboard campaigns. It has created the
largest event marketing company on the Coast through
hugely successful events including: The Big Boys Toy
Show, Woman’s Expo and Sav-A-Center Festival of Cooking,
Gulf Coast Bridal Fair, and CPR Fest, one of the most
successful radio station rock festivals in the country.
