TRIAD BROADCASTING EXPANDS IN NORTH DAKOTA
ADDS KBMW-AM AND ENTERS
JOINT SALES AGREEMENT WITH KEGK-FM
MONTEREY, CA, and FARGO,
ND, March 31, 2003 - Go Radio Broadcasting, LLC, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Triad Broadcasting Company,
LLC of Monterey, CA today finalized the purchase of KBMW-AM
in Wahpeton/Breckenridge, ND from W-B Broadcasting for
$1,200,000. Additionally, Triad announced that Go Radio
would enter into a Joint Sales Agreement (JSA) with KEGK-FM
(formerly KGWB-FM) in Wahpeton following today's close.
The station, licensed to Guderian Broadcasting, just
completed a power upgrade from 5,000 to 50,000 watts and
a related frequency move from 107.1 to 106.9.
Triad Broadcasting CEO David Benjamin comments, "The
Fargo-Moorhead area is a lucrative region for Triad. Our
stations in Fargo collectively reach a large audience
and provide a wide variety of entertainment to the
region. Adding KBMW-AM in the neighboring community of
Wahpeton/Breckenridge is an excellent fill-in
acquisition for Triad."
Adds Nancy Odney, Vice President and Market Manager for
Go Broadcasting in Fargo-Moorhead, "The Fargo cluster is
an outstanding collection of signals. We're thrilled to
add KBMW-AM to our management portfolio, and look
forward to helping KBMW achieve an even stronger
performance in the Wahpeton/Breckenridge marketplace. In
Fargo, our cluster accounts for four of the top five
stations most highly rated among persons 25-54,
according to the Fall 2002 listener surveys. Our sales
staff is eager to begin marketing KEGK, now another
strong signal in the region. Combined with our Internet
initiative at 123fargo.com, the new station in Wahpeton
and the JSA, we have a full plate moving into the second
quarter and are eager to get started."
Triad received FCC approval of the transaction recently.
The acquisition brings Triad's holdings to 49 radio
stations in eight U.S. markets that Triad owns, operates
or sells commercial time. It continues the company's
strategy of buying and growing strong station clusters
in vibrant small and mid-sized markets.
