RADIO LEADS RECOVERY ON THE GULF COAST
Biloxi / Gulfport, MS:
Triad Broadcasting continues to help lead local radio’s
recovery effort for the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Mississippi Media, a subsidiary of Triad Broadcasting,
is producing and promoting the “Coast Recovery Expo.”
This one-of-a-kind event is being held on Saturday,
January 28th at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi as the Coliseum
and Arena are still in repair. The “Coast Recovery Expo”
will feature product demonstrations, over 75 exhibitors
and most importantly, forums and seminars with coast
mayors, local officials, FEMA and SBA executives, along
with the state attorney general, insurance commissioner
and transportation commissioner. Triad Broadcasting’s
Senior Vice President Steve Fehder said, “This is the
only event of its kind that has gathered local, state
and federal officials and organizations together to
answer questions from the public about the Gulf Coast’s
recovery and future. In addition to the forums
throughout the day, we have over 75 exhibitors. We could
have had well over 100 exhibitors, but we ran out of
room in the mall. Radio is making this event happen. Not
newspaper and not television. The response has been
overwhelming.”
All six Mississippi Media radio stations in Biloxi /
Gulfport are helping to promote the event led by
NewsTalk 1640 WTNI “The Coast’s Official Recovery
Station.” The other stations include: 97.9 WCPR, 105.9
WXRG, 107.1 WXYK, 96.7 WUJM, and 1490 WXBD.
Mississippi Media has helped lead the local recovery
effort through the nationally recognized, “Recovery
Assistance Marketing Program” – RAMP, “Read for Relief”
in which 5,000 books were collected and distributed to
destroyed school libraries, and
”Homegrown Relief,” which is a station-produced CD of
local bands in which all proceeds go to the Boys and
Girls Club.
Mississippi Media programming, sales and administrative
offices are still housed in trailers and they expect to
be back in the studio building in 6 – 8 weeks.
