TRIAD BROADCASTING TO SELL LINCOLN, NEBRASKA CLUSTER TO
NRG MEDIA
Triad Broadcasting
President and CEO, David Benjamin, announces it has
reached an agreement to sell its five-station Lincoln,
Nebraska cluster to NRG Media, headquartered in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa. The sale comes after Triad’s eight-year
tenure in the Nebraska market.
Triad, based in Monterey, CA, reports that the top
Lincoln market stations in the sale include Today’s
Best Country Station FROGGY 98.1 (KFGE), Best
Variety of the 80’s 90’s and Today B107.3 (KBBK),
The Songs You Grew Up With LINC FM 105.3, (KLNC),
News Talk AM station 1400 (KLIN) and Newsradio
1450 (KWBE) in Beatrice, Nebraska.
CEO Benjamin comments, "We owe tremendous applause to
Vice President/Market Manager Mark Halverson and his
terrific staff for running such a wonderful, successful
operation in the Lincoln area. It is one of the greatest
operations of its size in the United States. Mark and
his team have been a pleasure to work with from
beginning to end,” he continues.
According to Triad, of paramount importance in the sale
of the stations was finding a similar operation with
substantial background and success in the same and or
comparable markets.
“NRG, which owns and operates more than 80 stations in
seven states (including 22 in Nebraska alone), is that
first rate company with an impeccable record,” Benjamin
remarks.
President and CEO of NRG Media, Mary Quass, is pleased
to have come to an agreement with Triad.
“We are excited to add the Lincoln stations to our
Midwest focused platform. We believe that the Lincoln
cluster fits perfectly, both geographically and in
market size. As we continue to grow the company, well
run properties like the Triad stations in vibrant
growing markets like Lincoln are exactly what NRG is
targeting. We look forward to welcoming the staff to our
NRG family,” Quass declares.
The Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) acquisition and
transaction were brokered by Frank Higney at Kalil &
Co., Inc. of Tucson, AZ.
The transaction is pending FCC approval and NRG will
begin operating the station under an LMA commencing
August 16th, 2007.
